If there ever was a time to stay it, it has to be now.
Today is a great day to be a Hilltopper.
Ty Rogers - the senior who is second all-time in games played at Western Kentucky - stepped up and drained an amazing 3-pointer at the buzzer with three Drake defenders in his face. The dramatic shot lifted the No.12 seeded Hilltoppers to a 101-99 win in their first round NCAA Tournament game in Tampa.
This shot will not only go down in the memories of Hilltopper fans, but it will go in the vault of amazing buzzer beaters in March Madness histories to be viewed time and time again.
WKU controlled the game from almost beginning to end, but Drake clawed back into the game with a barrage of perimeter shots, forcing the game to overtime. Like every other WKU fan the phrase "here we go again" was racing through my mind.
The BIG GAME that every WKU fan is use to losing has now been thrown out. In years past losing has been common with the clutch play by WKU, but with Rogers’ miraculous shots all we can do is STAND UP AND CHEER FOR THIS DEAR OLE WESTERN DAY.
